James Johnson
My name is James Johnson. I work for an oil field company and turn wrenches on pretty much anything that has a bolt of sorts on it. I'm currently located in Shreveport, La. I have a 6yr old son who enjoys the outdoors just as much as I do!
I started fishing at a young age to stay out of neighborhood trouble. Throughout the years I have been very luck with great mentors showing me different techniques for different types of fishing. Been fishing for over 20yrs now.
Over the past 20 years I’ve had the opportunity to fish some of the best southern lakes from Sam Rayburn to Lake Fork. I spend most my time on Caddo Lake located on Louisiana and Texas border. It's a huge natural lake with tons of cypress trees. I'm also lucky enough to live in a area where we have several Great Lakes within a short drive also. I'm not a huge tournament guy these days but I will join in on a fruitjar or a benefit to help people in need. We have such a great fishing community that comes together for these events.
My primary strength is cranking and throwing a trap. But I've always been a huge guy on big bulky jigs specially during spring which results in some nice catches. Bigger the jig the better the bite for myself.
Lately I've bought ton of Joeys jigs and started working on my deep water skills by making trips to Lake Fork. His jigs by far are the best I've ever used. From the hand tied to ur color needs or his premade rubber banded jigs that will fit everyone's needs.
I enjoy letting people use my Kistler Rods and Ardent Reels when I have people go with me. I enjoy showing them new techniques or new areas to try.
I am excited about the opportunity to represent Flatlands Custom Tackle. To try an help Joey grow his business even more after being very successful from his BBC days. He offers such a wide variety to fit many people's different types of fishing needs.
