FLATLANDS CUSTOM TACKLE and BOAT DETAILING
My name is Joey Watts and I am the owner of Flatlands Custom Tackle. I am 62 years old and been building/selling fishing tackle for a little over 20 years. I also Detail Boats on the side and in my spare time. Anything from a simple wash and wax to wet sanding, buffing and polishing if need be. I can also replace any of your Non-Skid Material, Decals and the Bunks on your Trailer. Below are some of the boats I have done and some of the prices I charge for doing this type of work. To give an exact price, I really need to see your boat in person.
Basic Wash/Wax - 150.00 - 300.00 - Depends on how big your boat is and how dirty your boat is. If your boat is covered in yellow pond scum, then all of that has to get cleaned off before I can wax. A good cleaning will consist of cleaning the sides, top cap, bottom and the inside of your boat. A good cleaning and a good waxing will help keep your boat looking good for the upcoming fishing season and also help protect it from the elements.
Compounding/Polishing/Waxing - 350.00 - 550.00 - Like above, depends on how big your boat is and how dirty it is before I start all of this. If your boat is just lightly oxidized and does not need any wet sanding to bring back the shine. Then washing really good followed by a good compounding, polishing and waxing is what I recommend. Will also include cleaning the inside and bottom of your boat.
Wet Sanding/Compounding/Polishing/Waxing - 500.00 - 800.00 Any boat that is Oxidized will need to be wet sanded before I can even start with any of the compounding, polishing and waxing. How much wet sanding depends on how bad your boat is oxidized. If it is bad, can be a 2 or 3 step process just to wet sand. Have to start with a 600 grit and then work my way up to a 1000 and then maybe a 1200 grit. Of course your boat will have to be washed really good before I start any of this. A good washing will consist of cleaning the top cap, sides, bottom and inside of your boat.
Thanks and if I can be of any help, please feel free to give me a call.

The Boat in the below pictures is my personal boat. It is a 2000 Bass Cat Sabre that I found in storage up around Nashville a few years ago. Had been setting in storage for around 9 years when I bought it. Had always planned on keeping for a few years and then selling to upgrade to a little newer and bigger boat. When boat prices started going crazy, decided I would just restore this boat and keep it. Pretty much everything on this boat has been gone through and either upgraded or replaced. All of the bilge and live well pumps have been replaced. Added Hydraulic Steering and a Jack Plate. Upgraded the trolling Motor and the Electronics. Added all new decals and all of newer style rigging for the boat motor when I tore this boat apart and did all of the wet sanding, buffing and polishing on this boat. Also put new runners on the trailer along with putting new bearings, seals and tires on the trailer. Get compliments on this boat just about every time I haul her to the lake and folks cannot believe she is 24 years old.
Below is a 2004 Bass Cat Cougar I detailed for a customer that lives down near the Delta in Mississippi. Does a lot of fishing up and down the Mississippi River. Boat had quite a bit of Oxidation on the Gel Coat and the bottom of the boat was all yellow from fishing out on the river when I first got it. I spent a day wet sanding the top cap and sides of this boat. Then started applying compound and buffing on it for another day. Spent close to a day cleaning all of the yellow stains and grime off the bottom of this boat. Once that was done, I then started polishing the top cap and sides. I also put all new Decals on this boat before applying a good coat of wax. All of the carpet, seats and underneath all of the compartments around where hey seal got cleaned really good why this boat was at my house to. Customer was so happy when he came to pick this boat up and HUGGED me and that is the TRUTH.
Below is a 2003 Triton I Detailed. This boat was in need of some LOVE also. I went sanded the top cap and sides of this boat. Then came back and Compounded everything real good with a Buffer. After I was done compounding, I then started the Polishing Process. Once that was done, I laid a really good coat of wax over the entire boat. I also cleaned the carpet, seats and cleaned around the seals on every compartment on this boat. Customer liked so much that he brought this boat back to me a month or so later to install a New Jack Plate and 2 New Bilge Pumps. Went from an 8" plate to a 12" plate. Why the boat was at my house, I also completely rebuilt all 4 wheels on the trailer. Installed all new bearings and seals.
Below is a 2006 Ranger I just got done detailing for a customer. This one needed a light wet sanding on the top cap. After that I buffed with a Heavy grit compound, polished and then waxed. Also cleaned the carpet and seats. Below is what the customer wrote on a Face Book.
"Shout out to Joey Watts with Flatlands Tackle, on the incredible job of detailing and buffing out my Ranger! If you have a boat that’s looking rough give him a shout! My boat looks like new! Great job Joey! Pics don’t do justice to the depth of shine on this Ranger!"
